Route Atlas

The Macomb Courier's Field Guide.
Not a calculator. Not a ledger.
A map of the streets that made us.

Why This Atlas?

Out there, everyone's building solvers. Calculating soil deficits, curing plaster, measuring shear forces. Respect. But my job isn't to calculate the perfect path. It's to drive the broken one. This atlas maps the real terrain: the pothole near the old Ford plant, the alley behind the record store where the signal dies, the traffic circle that runs on pure instinct. This is the knowledge you get from the wheel.

Primary Routes

Winding industrial road at dusk

Sector 1: The Industrial Loop

Length: 12mi | Surface: Asphalt (Patched)

Starts at the depot. Avoids Main St during rush hour. Hits the old steel mills where the pavement still hums with the ghost of production. Tactic: Keep the RPMs low here; the vibration tells you the potholes before the eyes do.

Suburban street lined with trees

Sector 2: The Suburban Drift

Length: 8mi | Surface: Concrete (Smooth)

The quiet stretch. Where the GPS thinks it knows everything. Don't trust it past mile marker 4. The turnoff for the Miller house is unmarked. Tactic: Watch for the oak tree with the lightning scar.

Golden cornfield stretching to horizon

Sector 3: The Cornfield Detour

Length: 3mi | Surface: Dirt (Loose)

The "GPS Error" zone. The place where I learned to sing along to the radio when the road went silent. Tactic: High clearance. Low gear. Let the van breathe.

Terrain Intelligence

Surface: Patchwork Asphalt

The classic Macomb patch. Looks smooth, hides a void. Load Bearing: 12 tons max. Exceed this and you sink.

Obstacle: The Record Store Alley

Signal dead zone. No GPS. Only analog intuition. Entry Code: Turn left at the blue door.

Condition: Winter Ice (Legacy Data)

The black ice layer that formed in January. Still there in spirit. Grip Coefficient: μ=0.05. Do not brake. Steer.

The Courier's Protocol

Rule 1: The GPS is a suggestion. The road is the law.

Rule 2: When the engine screams, you don't stop. You tune it.

Rule 3: Every detour is a destination waiting to be named.
